1. My Full Name is Mohamed Arif Fauzi bin Ariffin. For those who may not realize, my name came from both my parents name, that is Ariffin and Fauziah, thus my name.
2. When I was younger, I grew up watching shows like Bill Nye The Science Guy and other science for kids show, thus my interest in science, and in my later years, in engineering. I think engineers are helping scientist apply their new found discoveries, and innovating them for the good of mankind.
3. My primary school, Sultan Alam Shah 2, had a large influence in my life, that it has taught me that we, regardless of race, can learn to live and enjoy each others company. i never realized that people outside my school, in particular those who goes to different schools have difficulty mixing with other races. I made friends who transcend all colours and races, and religion. Hopefully, people around me can share my sentiments and learn to live together, without prejudice, and enjoy how unique we all are.
4. I went to America when I was young because my dad had to work there. From there is where I first started speaking the English Language by watching shows like Charlie Brown and Transformers. Some Speed Racer here and there. When I came back to Malaysia, particularly Terengganu, I was being made fun of because of my inability to speak Malay. But I'm okay now, it improved ten fold since i entered matriculation and university. I would say I'm proud to be able to converse the language well because it allows me to mix with people from other countries, and I like to meet new people!
5. Even though I like to meet people, i don't have a billion friends, but I do appreciate the close friends that I have. I think its more important to have quality friends than quantity
6. I'm a big time gamer! Back in the US of A, my dad would copy games from the office and bring it back for me to play! It was a big exposure for me to computers, the day we had to use DOS to navigate. The games he brought back were educational, mostly about numbers and alphabets, but it goes a long way in the process of learning.
7. To extend on no. 6, I used to have a Sega Genesis, and back then games were expensive. So what I did was i traded with Joey games so that we don't have to buy the same games. We used to call those game "Books" to cover the fact they were games. I think Aaron was in the fray too!
8. Me, Joey and Aaron used to draw together! Although i thought Joey was the pioneer as he started the whole comic thing. We just decided to get together and draw! The impressive thing is that Joey always draw very cleanly, while i felt my drawing was a bit rough.
9. I remember back in primary school, I was never an active person. PJ was always dreadful as I never joined any sport. It's a good thing that has changed as I am a more active person now, despite my recent weight gain! Will work on it soon, once I have focus!
10. In Secondary school, I joined Silat Gayung Fatani, and it was unique to learn your own heritage and learning the arts and taking time to perfect it. We had a good run making performances here and there, giving me the extra confidence of going out there and giving my best to those who are watching. Maybe next time I could do some other performance to please the crowd?
11. I remembered going to tuition to always chill and hang out with the cool lecturer, Mr Wong and some of my mates. Most of the time we would be talking rather than studying! But most of us did well, so all's well! Some are more colourful than others!
12. I spent a lot of time playing cards and watching anime back then. Back then watching anime was so cool because it was such a small community and the animes were of good quality. Now, it was blown out of proportion and there's too many, completely flooding the market. Oh and cards? Magic The Gathering and Pokemon.
13. I started taking up basketball when I watched Slam Dunk. Never looked back. I remember the days when every Saturday without fail, I'd be b-balling with my buds. We'd play until we're pissed at the other team or till noon! And the clutch shots? Thats yo' shot! Hope your doing alright my fellow basketball friends!
14. Astronomy was cool back then. In the Science and Maths Club, we had a supportive teacher, Mrs Ng Lai Na, who even persuaded the school to get its own telescope and have our own astronomy sessions. We also did sunspots, by directing the telescope directly onto the sun with a filter!
15. Matriculation was one of those times in my life I really enjoyed the most. I may be away from my family, but i my new found independence taught me to learn how to wash my clothes and organize myself. The coolest things were the people there, their so nice! i had a great group back then, we even went and organize and English night complete with performances and all. Kudos to Iman and the Gang! Hope your all doing good. 'cept for Iman, Haha!
16. University is both a lot of good and bad for me. Bad for all the bad experiences I've experienced with people, but good for all its learning and close buddies. Unfortunately, there will always be people who backstab you, but its good to know I have friends who got my back.
17. Debates was so engaging! I remembered looking for DOSE in my first year but failed miserably. Good thing I found Hawa and everyone in the 2nd year. Got into debating, and made very good friends. We might not debate so often anymore, but we still hang out from time to time so thats always nice! Spaghetti carbonara DOSE? Hehe
18.Civil Engineering is a very interesting course if your into Structures, Geology, Environmental, Highway, Project Management. So yeah a lot of different disciplines you can get into.
19. Being in a relationship has taught me to be more responsible, to be more attentive and always look out for the finer details. A little effort goes a long way. I am still learning, but I hope to be a better person to make the people around me happy!
20. I hope to be an engineer to engage myself in challenging projects, hopefully learning a lot in the process
21. What more can I? I like Curry? Especially good curry at that!
22. I also like to play futsal! I play every weekend, provided that there's enough people to play. You will probably see me in PJ on Saturday and Sunday mornings!
